Something that makes ISPA really unique is the pride that all the students share for the amazing family we call our school. This phoenix pride as we call it is shown most during one week of the entire school year called “spirit week.” Scheduled to take place on the week of October 24, everyday has a special theme in which all students can creatively showcase their spirit for the school. For example, we will begin the festive week with super hero-villain day. Each student will have the opportunity to dress like his or her favorite comic book hero, whether it’s by wearing a cool graphic tee or wearing the costume itself. On Tuesday, the theme switches to my personal favorite, twin day. In groups of two, three, or four, students dress exactly a like in whichever theme they please. Last year, for example, students came dressed as babies, soccer players, even a peanut butter and jelly duo! This year we are in for a special treat as last year’s tacky tourist Wednesday is being swapped out for ISPA’s first western Wednesday. Students can come dressed in their best hoedown attire as all hats, plaid shirts, and boots are welcome. Thursday comes the classic throwback as students can come dressed in their best 70s, 80s, and 90s outfits to honor the fashion statements of the past. Lastly comes the big event. On Friday, we celebrate the color wars where each grade is assigned a color; freshman wear red, sophomores wear orange, juniors wear blue, and seniors wear black. Then each grade is called down to participate in the ISPA spirit games. There are multiple stations including inflatable obstacle courses and basketball. One of the best parts about spirit week is that every dollar raised during the week goes to the United Way Campaign! We hope that this year every student will participate in one of the best events that ISPA has to offer!
